thanks for that .Not my intention to upset folk.
Your right that once it's released it will be available everywhere and everyone will benifit.

I don't mind paying £20 as i've paid that and more for region free chipped players when i first got dvd and was looking at the dts list on here years ago.
So it seems a small price to pay for my benefit of having one box to do it all under my tv.

Again this is personal preference .
This all started when mods on a forum allowed the use of older firmware without the knowledge of the writer.Of course once it was out everyone wanted it and word spread quickly. So because of this the firmware is to be paid for , to teach these mods a lesson (not my words but that of the writer).

I am acctually stunned that way more than 200 people have not signed up yet, as its on hundreds of forums now talking about this. Either people are just not willing to pay, or thet do not believe its true and not a scam.

As I paid way more than £20 in the past to get my players modded for region free. I just guess many people think it will come to them in the end.

DVDTherapy is still running mate but before that I called it Electronic Reality - does that ring any bells?

That was different and it was what I said. For £20 you got your player modded, meaning a guy had to buy a custom chip and then get it solded (?) on your machine. That takes work and money.

THANKS A LOT
My headaches gone now.

I used to post up disks that i had found that were dts and not on the list.
It was great info and saved a load of hunting other sites.
From here i got likes of terminator jap edition , dark city polish dts , blade dts anda few others.

It was a good site but as you said very rough and ready then.
Much better with DvdTherapy , Electronic Reality didn't realy give you any ideas of what the site was about.

Thanks again

Thanks to Kingfats on avforums:

Link to firmware:
http://rapidshare.com/files/150631263/E ... e.iso.html

Link to ImgBurn (recommended to burn the iso with):
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Other info from the post:

A kind soul  sent me the region free firmware for the EP35  this has now been tested and...............it works.
Viking 61 has kindly loaded it onto a Rapidshare site for easy downloading.
Just want to say a big thanks to Viking for all his help on modifying firmware and helping out forum members
EP35 region free here.
This region free firmware also requires 2 restarts.
It is for the EP35, not for the EP30.
The firmware is built on the EP35 version 1.3, but can be applied onto all versions, including 4.0. Re-apply version 4.0 after making it region free.4.0 > XE1 E1 EP10 EP35
Burning advice:
Try using this free burning software: ImgBurn and burn the image at 1x speed. Be sure to use a CD-R or a CD-RW.
The heads up on what to expect during the update.

RCE HACK.
1) Turn on player
2) Open tray, put disc in tray but don´t close
3) Push T.search on remote
4) Push 1, 3, 9 and "Region number" (e.g. 1 for US discs)
5) Push T. search on remote.

You will see TEST on your player

6) Press PLAY on the remote

When player is turned off, this setting is cleared.

!!! Absolutely Awesome !!!

I'm chuffed to bits.

Just to report for those who are a little unsure about doing this kind of stuff (i.e. me ): downloaded the image and used the ImgBurn download as recommended and burnt at 1x speed onto a CD-R with verification left on.

Popped it into the machine, prompted on screen asking do I want to update - pressed "Yes"

The machine went off to do it's thing (took what seemed like a fair while so don't panic), when finished it shut down and ejected the disc.

Powered up by the remote - and I think it's important here to make sure you leave the disc in the tray at this point (Kingfats? Viking?) as after it had pulled the disc back in another short update appeared to happen before it shut down again.

Powered up the unit via the remote and removed the disc, popped in a region 1 dvd and Robert's your mother's brother!

One very happy camper

Also then updated to V4 firmware via the ethernet connection - everything still fantastic!

Big big thanks to Kingfats and Viking - I think you will make many others very happy

I have the 35 so I might give this ago, but I must admit I have greatly reduced the amount of foreign DVD watching I do now.
