It's a nice set, but I think it's pretty weird that the two slipcases are not wide enough to keep the amaray inside - makes it look cheap.
This replaces my Korean 2Disc SE:

Bungee Jumping of their Own: Korean Limited Edition with 112-page scenariobook in a special box

The back of the scenariabook is white with no print, so I chose to take a second one of the front.
Very happy to get this. Probably the 1Disc release I was willing to pay the most for. (Not that I think the story/film itself is a masterpiece, but for me movies are also about watching beautiful people - and you can't go wrong with Lee Eun-joo and Lee Byeong-heon.)
This replaces my Korean SE with slipcase:

If they had different covers I would've considered keeping both. BTW: even though my pictures exaggerate it (taken on different days -> different lighting) the covers actually have different colours, whereas the LE is grey-ish the SE is green-ish.

Hey, Mr. ... you have such unbelievably wonderful updates, it's almost scaaary   - I mean, if I actually started to watch all these obviously gorgoeus films in such an appealing packaging, I'd definately go broke... I'm really afraid I'd like them too much, so I'd get into a whole new buying frenzy... now we don't want that to happen, it's bad enough with me as it is  :hahaha:

Beautiful collection... I am still thinking of that Little Prince too...  :D

Thanks! :drink:
Got a from a fellow collector who is selling all his DVDs, got the offer per mail, since I've had previous deals with him. I've sent you a PM with a link where to find another offer a couple of minutes ago. ;)

Oooh, thanks for your comment. Image
I know that feeling of being afraid of liking something so much, it might ruin oneself (at least financially). That's why I don't smoke and don't buy Criterion Collection DVDs :hahaha:
Just a word of warning: like everywhere else Korean publishers sometimes make beautiful editions for less than mediocre films, so not everything that looks good is really enjoyable. (though, obviously, tastes differ) If you're seriously considering starting to watch asian films, I wouldn't recommend starting with 'Little Prince' - the film isn't really that good. (And it has little to do with Saint-Exupéry's novel, which is a good thing, because the film only hints at the magic of the book, without taking much away from it.) Anyway, you got your PM, where to get it a couple of days ago. ;)

I got this one today:

Life is Cool: Korean DVD

This is actually the 600th Korean feature film I now own on DVD! :woot: I'm a bit too tired right now, to celebrate that properly. All I can say, that the pace of new acquisitions in the first two months of this year really surprised me. (and dried up my wallet) And it doesn't seem to stop for now: I have found some more people selling their collections and have currently ordered >35 editions (>40 films) - so there will be some updates soon. :norty:
I am extremely happy that I already got 29 of the 100 editions I most wanted to get this year! (And a further 8 are on their way ...) If you had asked me, when I first started contemplating such a list, I would've considered myself lucky if I got that many at the end of the year, not after merely two months.

I actually took some pics of the setup today, but they turned out very poor, and I only added a few to the first post. I will try to take make new ones of the Korean films with better lighting later this week. Here's a little odd-angled teaser of my oversized Korean editions:
Image
If you know the size of that '2009 - Lost Memories' LE at the back, you can imagine, that even placed really close to each other, these editions need 1.5m+ shelf space.

Splendid update as usual!   Some really rare editions you have added to your collection: Kick the Moon, Chihwaseon, Memories of Murder (Aaaah, memories indeed. One of my very first Korean LEs  :smug:), Bungee Jumping of their Own (beautiful film), all very hard to find.

And believe me, 22€ for the Chihwaseon wooden box is a bargain, I payed MUCH more than that ;) However, I agree with you on the lack of extras...

Oh, and congratulations on your 600th Korean feature film on DVD!
... and 40 more on the way...  :hammer:

God, I wish they'd be selling shelves like yours in Ikea... with all the... ''add-ons'' as well, of course  :norty: That's a mighty good looking shelf, dear, honestly.  :D

Thanks for all the tips concerning buying  :D

And since congratulations on your 600th are in order  :norty:  :drink: cheers!

Agree with you. For example Once in a Summer, that box looks nice but the movie itself is average. Just got it because of the package and it was so cheap.
As for Little Prince, I found the movie ok. It was worth getting it, the slipcase for the LE is neatly made. (It's in sale right now if I'm correct).

Nice collection you have jab ;) . Seems you always surprise us with your (OOP) additions.

Well, I didn't say that I haven't seen it sell for much more, just that it's imo not worth it. (And it's more than the SRP. The edition isn't that rare, so I wouldn't say it was a particularly good bargain. My best purchase that I still think is hard to beat: 08-01-19; eBay.de -> 4.49€ for 'Die Bad', I've seen that go for insane prices :oohyeah:)

 In that case I'd certainly go visit my local IKEA store more often :D

Yes, that Chinese edition is "more interesting looking", but imo the Korean LE is nicer. I might still get that Chinese LE, just for all the Lee Eun-joo pictures.

I have to agree with your opinion on 'Once in a Summer': it's a really beautiful set, but the film was disappointing. There are quite a few great editions of mediocre films: 'Love me Not', 'Oseam', 'Hanbando' and 'Forbidden Quest' are the ones that first come to my mind.
I didn't say that 'Little Prince' was bad, just that it's imo not the best film to start exploring Asian Cinema.

I have now updated the first page with recent pictures. The colours are a little off, because I had to use all available (and vastly different) sources of lighting to upset the lack of flash - but I hope one can still see which editions these are.

I got these two today:
