there are too many chatting threads but very little (also none) updates in DVD releases in Asia. I'm interested in Malaysian DVDs.

Update in Thai DVDs:

The Thai DVD Gift Set market is almost dead...
There're very few Thai Gift Set in the market currently.
However, I found two things...

Steel case DVD: There are many steel case DVDs out recently. These are not Steelbook nor Metalpak but a new type of steel case, they look similar to Steelbook but they are not. Price at around USD 11.

8 in 1 DVDs: This type of DVDs is getting very popular, they are everywhere in Bangkok. it's 8 movies squeeze into 1 disc. they are distributed by well-known Thai DVD distributors: EVS, United Home Entertainment etc.

Have you got pictures of these steel cases that look steelbooks?

These 8 in 1 releases must be of inferior quality?

the 8 in 1 is something they learnt from the Chinese. this type of discs known as High Density disc, quality is low. no idea why they brings this kind of low definition stuff to Thailand. movies in those discs are lousy too.

the steel case is another Chinese made case, not the Danish Steelbook quality but looks ok. you can tell that it's not Steelbook by looking at the side edge and inside. they called it "Ironpak". Plenty titles to choose from, 300, Dark Knights, Independence Day and all the old stuff...

if you are in bangkok, head to B2S as many boxset over there at full price, most LE mentioned in this thread can be found but they look pretty old and dusty. the 80% off works, many LE at such discount sold out in other stores.

i also saw unauthorized discs are being offered though legitimate shops. those discs usually erotic cult. One is Sex and Zen Chopstick, it is a direct color photo copy of Hong Kong version, not even a Thai word is added to the cover. Can't believe. Some other "Remastered edition" also suspious.

i mostly buy thai discs with weird contents and cult that often cost less than $5 and not available elsewhere.
